“HERSTORY”: TakeFive’s Film Now Available Online
There are moments when an idea starts simply — almost by chance — and ends up becoming something much bigger than you ever expected. That’s exactly how the first film by the Take Five collective began: a project born out of the desire to capture the reality of womanhood today, through 15 different voices.
The initial spark reached the group through Sofia, who came up with the original concept. “We were excited by the theme, we embraced it, and made it our own,” they say. That became the catalyst for the creation of a small yet dynamic artistic team with a shared vision.
The goal was clear: to show what it means to live as a woman in 2025 — with all the contradictions, difficulties, and strength that this role carries. In the film, 15 women of different ages and professions speak, and yet their answers converge. It’s fascinating to see how, despite their differences, shared experiences and needs emerge. “We want people to hear these voices and understand that, even today, nothing is guaranteed. No woman is alone, and none ever will be.”
To bring the project to life, roles were distributed organically, based on each person’s skills. Sofia, as the “head” of the idea, took on directing. Alexis and Giannis handled the cameras and cinematography, Archontia worked on sound and music, while Daphne took charge of art direction and graphic design.
Of course, in practice things were more complex: from scouting locations to making small equipment fixes, everyone pitched in wherever needed. The interviews were filmed on different days and in different places, which required flexibility, trust, and a strong sense of teamwork. “We were five people with little experience, so we had to learn what it really means to work as a team — to support each other, to cover for one another, to find solutions,” they say. “We learned that collaboration requires maturity, willingness, and communication. It wasn’t all easy, but it brought us closer together.”
The film doesn’t aim to give ready-made answers; instead, it offers real women a platform to speak. “No experience is small when it’s shared. Every voice matters, and when many come together, they create a clearer picture of reality.” They hope that whoever watches the film “will understand how uniquely complex it is to be a woman (and a human) in today’s world, and develop more empathy towards them. If even one person sees the world a little differently, we’ve succeeded.”
This journey was only the beginning — they grew as individuals and, above all, as professionals. Take Five is a collective where each member can express and share their work, individually or collaboratively. “Art is a way to express yourself, but it’s beautiful when you share it with the world and it gives something back.” They are already thinking about their next steps — and the spark ignited by this first film suggests that it will lead them to even bolder projects.
